The FBI arrests nine people for PUA fraud

Federal agencies arrested nine people this morning after completing a fraud investigation Pandemic Unemployment Benefit Program (PUA),

The new day knew that The arrests took place in Humacao, Comerío and Aguas Buenas, but all agencies were from different parts of the island, as the information used by those who committed the alleged fraud to receive the checks had different addresses.

This would be the first time that federal agencies have made arrests in Puerto Rico by the PUA.

The arrests followed a decision by the federal grand jury last week.

The spokeswoman for Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI, in English), Limary Cruz Rubio, told this media the arrest warrants are divorced and the nine people are adults.

The Federal Treasury Department, the Department of Labor and Human Resources, the United States Postal Service and the Office of the Inspector General in Puerto Rico participated in the investigation of the case.
