The director of the Highways and Transportation Authority, renamed by Pierluisi, is stepping down

The Executive Director of the Highways and Transportation Authority (ACT), Rosana Aguilar, today filed her resignation letter, effective December 31.

The information was confirmed The new day by Sheila Angleró, press officer for the elected governor, Pedro Pierluisi.

“Yes, she quit for personal reasons,” said Angleró.

Aguilar was to remain under Pierluisi as director of ACT, and the elected governor had already introduced her as part of his cabinet on December 7 at a press conference.

However, Aguilar has been the subject of strong criticism from Bayamón Mayor Ramón Luis Rivera Cruz, who is leading the government’s transitional hearings.

During the Dec. 10 hearings, Rivera Cruz questioned the ACT director about the slowness with which they have been processing contracts to use $ 169 million available in federal government emergency funds for improvements to the urban rail system, the only route of which runs from Santurce to Bayamon.

Pierluisi, for his part, indicated this in written expressions “I received engineer Rosana Aguilar’s resignation from her position and her re-appointment as Director of the Highways Authority. I appreciate the service provided to Puerto Rico. Together with the designated secretary of the Department of Transport and Public Works, the engineer Eileen Vélez, I will identify and appoint a person in the coming days ”.
