The Day Will and Kate Got Married viewers mourn the close relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry

ITV viewers have expressed grief over the relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry after seeing their closeness in the new documentary The Day Will and Kate Got Married.

The program, which aired last night and marked 10 years since the great day of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Westminster Abbey, showed the brothers smiling at each other as they walked to the altar before Kate’s arrival.

It comes after the warring princes reportedly spoke on the phone following Harry and Meghan’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, but friends of the LA-based couple said the conversation was “ unproductive. ”

It was revealed yesterday that William has reportedly ended his two-decade friendship with ITV’s Tom Bradby, irritated that he sided with Harry and Meghan in the Windsors’ increasingly bitter transatlantic war.

The airing of clips from William and Kate’s wedding brought back ‘happier’ times among the royal family, viewers said last night.

One person wrote on Twitter: ‘Sad to watch William and Harry. They were so close and now barely talk to each other, #thedaywillandkate married. ‘

Another said: “That wedding was beautiful and they have remained a beloved couple. Harry also seemed happy in those days. #thedaywillandkategotmarried ‘

But a third insisted: ‘Ultimately, both couples like it as it turned out. They no longer have to compete in that hierarchical mindset. ‘

Katie Nicholl, a royal London correspondent, said of the program: ‘[William and Harry] were incredibly popular.

“It was the sons we had seen growing up without a mother, who had walked behind her coffin, that memory was deeply etched in the heart of the nation and in her memory.”

Royal historian and author Robert Lacey added: “The wedding of William and Kate really completed a rather dramatic turnaround that the monarchy had made since the dark days of the 1990s, the annus horribilis, the death of Diana.

“The rebirth of the monarchy happened literally through these two boys and William’s love and marriage to Kate were part of that.”

During his explosive story with Oprah, Harry hinted at the magnitude of the alleged rift between the two brothers, claiming their relationship was now “ space, ” but added that he hoped time would be a healer.

He went on to claim that he was’ on different paths’ to William, saying, ‘I love William very much, he is my brother. We went through hell together, we have a shared experience, but we were on different paths. ‘

After the interview, CBS presenter Gayle King claimed she had spoken to the Sussexes who told her that Harry had spoken to the Duke of Cambridge and the Prince of Wales after the broadcast – but said the conversations were “ unproductive. ”

The Duke of Cambridge was the first royal to personally respond to the tell-all days after the interview aired when speaking about mental health while visiting School21 in East London.

At the time, he revealed that he hadn’t spoken to his brother since it came out, but added that he ‘will do’.

Yesterday, a royal insider revealed William’s friendship with ITV News at 10 host Tom Bradby is another victim of the fallout, telling MailOnline: ‘The friendship between William and Tom is all but over. The Duke feels abandoned by Bradby and the way he has acted in recent months.

William is a sensitive soul and believes it is in times of crisis when you find out who your true friends are. It would be fair to say Bradby hasn’t been one of them. ‘

Anger is growing among senior royal aides at the way Bradby and ITV News seem to have become a mouthpiece for Harry and Meghan’s complaints about the royal family.

Bradby, 54, hosted an ITV documentary filmed in South Africa in 2019, when Meghan moaned in a swipe at her new family: ‘Not many people have asked if I’m okay. It is very real to go through behind the scenes… it has really been a battle. ‘

Harry also used Bradby’s documentary to publicly confirm a feud with his brother, admitting that he and William were “ on different paths ” at this point.

More recently, Bradby is believed to have played a pivotal role in ITV being given the rights to air Oprah Winfrey’s incendiary interview with the pair, where they threw a number of grenade-like allegations at the monarchy, including allegations that a senior royal made racist comments about the skin color of their future child.

The Duke of Cambridge was once so close to Tom Bradby that he was chosen to conduct the November 2010 exclusive engagement interview with him and Kate Middleton.

The royal source said: ‘Some of the palaces’ employees are even more angry about Bradby and the tone of his coverage at ITV News, which they consider to be pro Harry and Meghan.

Bradby is known to communicate with Harry in person on a regular basis and that’s pretty obvious to royal aides who know how things work.

“But it’s very hard to accept, given the long history between Bradby and William.”

William was once so close to Bradby that he was selected to conduct the exclusive November 2010 engagement interview with him and Kate. Bradby attended the wedding at Westminster Abbey as a guest.

A spokesman for William said at the time, “The couple requested that this interview be specifically recorded with Mr. Bradby, both of whom have known for a while.”
