Unlike companies such as LG, which one have used flexible OLED screen technology to deliver giant TVs that can discreetly disappear into a modest box when not in use, C SEED uses microLEDs instead. MicroLEDs, that many see as the future of screen technology, Combine the best features of today’s leading display technologies with self-illuminated RGB pixels that require no backlighting, and without the degrading organic compounds used to manufacture OLED displays. The new screen technology is also more energy efficient, allows for slimmer screens and can produce white and black tones that rival the best TVs on the market today.
The only downside is that microLED screens cannot be folded the way OLEDs can, at least not yet. So to make a 165-inch TV disappear into the floor, C SEED instead designed the M1 to separate into it first five separate panels that fold itowards each other like a giant fan. That’s the other advantage of microLED screen technology: met allows much larger TVs to be assembled from smaller panels while perfectly concealing all seams, so the final result looks like one gigantic uniform display.

We’ve all seen it “Jumbotron” screens crisscrossed with black lines where smaller panels weren’t quite perfectly aligned, but C SEED promises this isn’t a problem with the M1 thanks to a feature called Adaptive Gap Calibration, which detects when panels have small shifts and automatically adjusts the brightness of edge pixels to hide any shadows that create those ugly seam lines.
Available in gold, black, or titanium, the C SEED M1 can be yours for $ 400,000, but that’s not including the renovations needed to get a room ready for installation. If you want the full effect of a giant television screen that disappears into your floor, you’ll need a contractor to make sure it’s possible for a room at all – and then there is the space underneath to consider if you live in a multi-storey home. If you live in an apartment or condo in a tower, you will have to settle for other installation options, including a giant box on the floor for the M1 to collapse into, or matching decorative furniture to hide inside.
That sounds like a lot of work to disguise a TV, but wThe C SEED M1 slowly rises from the floor and unfolds like the solar panels of a satellite that has just entered orbit is fascinating. It almost ensures that it doesn’t seem so annoying to have to wait a few minutes before you can actually watch TV. Getting there is half the fun with the M1.
