The court finds that the charges of Odebrecht employees 1 and 54 are not fully read in the trial

The judges of the First Collegiate Court of the National District ruled that the charges of employees 1 and 54 of the Odebrecht company, identified as Marcelo Odebrecht and Marcos Vasconcelos Cruz, are not read in their entirety.

The court chaired by Gisell Méndez and consisting of Tania Yunes and Jisell Naranjo, made the decision considering that some of the charges that will not be included is because they have not been fully translated into Spanish.

In this sense, the judges ordered the court secretary to read only those parts that are in Spanish, because according to the Code of Criminal Procedure, only documents in this language can be included in the process.

The court ruled that she will first read the reports of employee 1 (Marcelo Odebrecht) in Spanish, with whose reports Pepca wants to demonstrate the alleged participation of the six defendants in the bribery scheme.

The Special Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), Wilson Camacho, Chief, Mirna Ortiz, the body’s process coordinator and José Miguel Marmole, had asked the court to allow the full recording of the award-winning statements of the Brazilian company’s executives who admitted they had paid for the award of public works in the Dominican Republic. to stand.

This led to opposition from the defendant’s defense attorneys, requesting that the motion be rejected after it was ruled that the translations had not been properly filed with the Secretariat of the Supreme Court by the Public Prosecution Service and that this had already been decided by the court.

They claimed that the charges of Odebrecht’s executives could be included in the trial because they were not translated correctly and that this is already a matter of judgment.

Pepca keeps the warning

Earlier, Pepca’s head, Wilson Camacho, enforced the warning to the court that the prosecution deposited all evidence with the secretary of the Supreme Court and therefore demanded that whatever was filed be read.

He said that in “test number one is the full charge of employee 54 (Marco Vasconcelos Cruz) and that has been translated; there is the termination of employee number one (Marcelo Odebrecht) and it is translated. They should be read in their entirety as presented by the Public Prosecution Service in its accusation ”.
