(CNN Español) – The United States in first place, Brazil in second place, Mexico in third place, India in fourth place, followed by Italy, France, Russia, Spain, Iran and Germany. Of the ten countries in the world with the most deaths from the coronavirus, the first three are in America.
Today the pandemic counts nearly 103 million cases worldwide and more than 2.2 million deaths. At what point is Latin America?
For example, the week of February 1, 2021 will begin in the ten Latin American countries with the highest number of deaths from covid-19, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University.
Brazil
Nine children between the ages of 1 and 5 who showed symptoms of coronavirus died in the indigenous area of Yanomami in Amazonas state on Sunday, according to the Yanomami and Ye’kuana Indigenous Health District Council.
Brazilian Health Minister Eduardo Pazuello is currently under investigation for the government’s approach to the Amazonas pandemic crisis.

Mexico
Mexico’s Ministry of Health is working with Jalisco authorities to investigate whether there could be a new species of covid-19 in the country.
This was reported by the director of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control (CENAPRECE), Ruy López Ridaura, on Sunday.
The announcement comes a day after the University of Guadalajara reported they discovered four cases of a mutation of the virus that causes the disease on Jan. 27, a statement from the institution said.
On the other hand, the doctors of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that the president has already passed the critical stage of the disease and that his evolution is good, a week after contracting Covid-19.

Ecuador
Last week, associations of doctors and nurses, members of the assembly, the Ombudsman’s office and other bodies called for the resignation of Ecuador’s Minister of Health, Juan Carlos Zevallos.
They argue that no priority will be given to applying the vaccine to primary care workers in hospitals and care centers for the elderly, as the government announced.
