It’s a feature first introduced on robovacs from companies such as i robot and Shark, but LG just unveiled a cordless stick vacuum cleaner with a charging dock that automatically empties the vacuum cleaner dustbin when docked, giving you one less excuse to deal with all the chip crumbs that fall to the floor in your daily attempts to get off the couch.

Despite a hefty name, the new LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor + Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is another lightweight cordless vacuum that makes cleaning your floors and clearing up the occasional spills less of a hassle, but even with two interchangeable batteries included, you probably go not being able to clean the floors in an entire house at once. Going wireless is the only tradeoff, but at least LG is now offering a consolation prize.

The vacuum cleaner docking station should make it easy to charge the LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor + without having to pick up a cord, but when the stand is docked, the stand sucks all the dirt and debris out of the vacuum cleaner’s trash can: one convenience that anyone who escapes a cloud of dust while emptying Dyson’s cordless vacuum cleaners will appreciate it. The dirt is collected in a larger dust bag that either needs to be emptied sporadically or completely replaced. LG has not indicated whether the system requires a constant supply of fresh bags.

What’s for sure, however, is that the docking station isn’t exactly small, and despite the marketing materials, you probably don’t want it on display in your living room. In addition to the dust collection system, there are also a lot of extra cleaning nozzles and accessories for the cordless vacuum cleaner to store, so that they do not disappear in a cupboard or tool drawer. The LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor + may also be able to make your floors shine, as it features a built-in water reservoir and an interchangeable Power Mop attachment with a pair of rotating microfiber pads that can be used to mop hardwood floors.

As stick vacuums go, the LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor + offers more features and functionality than any of the other competitors, but that’s probably why LG hasn’t released pricing information yet. With the charging station, extra battery, and mopping capabilities, there is likely to be a thousand dollar price tag on this vacuum, but can you really put a price on it for not having to empty a small trash can every day?
