The weather is calm this week.

But we start the working week cloudy: it is a gray start to your Monday morning.

We will see the sun through the clouds a few times during lunch, and then it will get sunnier later in the afternoon.

Look for a beautiful sunset on Monday at 4:55 PM.

Because it is cloudy for half of the day, our highlights on Monday remain in the 1930s.

Then the sky clears on Monday evening and it will be sunny on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Because we get a full day of sun on Tuesday, we are going back into the 1940s. Then we will be in the mid-1940s on Thursday.

“Milder” air comes from the south to bring our mid-40s. Air usually flows up from the south for a cold front, and on Fridays we get that cold front.

When it passes on Friday afternoon, it will be cloudy. The afternoon clouds are whipping our highs back to the low 40s.

It is a weak cold front, so we stay dry when it crosses.

Then we are back in the 1930s for the weekend, because we feel the effects of the cold front.

On Saturday it will be cloudy again in the afternoon. These clouds are more effective. No, we don’t get snow. But the Western and Central PA will. By the time the sky gets here, it will have dropped its snow. So instead we just get the clouds, Saturday afternoon.

Friday and Saturday it is quite windy, so that gives an extra chill to the air.

We start off lightly on Sunday, but lose the wind in the afternoon. Enjoy sunny skies all day long.

Next Monday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) it will get even colder. You could say: cold enough for snow …

Note that the future radars we are using to forecast will have a blizzard in the forecast for the start of the January 18 working week.

Too early to pinpoint a day (Jan 18-20) or if it will even happen, but they are consistent with a blizzard in the forecast for the start of the work week next week. So we’ll keep an eye on this and let you know if it seems like a reality.
