The box truck playing music outside of Nashville had no explosives, authorities say

A Tennessee sheriff’s office says a box truck driver who was heard on Sunday at a convenience store outside Nashville is in prison for felony. But authorities say it had no explosives.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office says members of a church and customers in the nearby market where the white box truck was spotted in Lebanon, about 25 miles east of Nashville, heard the driver’s audio playing “ similar to what was heard ” before a recreational vehicle exploded in downtown Nashville on Christmas Day.

Sgt. Steve Craig says delegates were called to investigate reports in which the truck driver was playing “loud” audio outside the market and later found that the man was accused of similar actions outside a church during a shift earlier in the day.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said a robot was sent to investigate the truck and no device was found.

Local residents were evacuated when the white truck was combed, WTVF-TV, affiliated with CBS Nashville, reports.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement that 33-year-old driver James Turgeon was detained and charged with two felonies in which he filed a false report and one time tampering with evidence.

Officials say the evidence tampering charges were brought because he “deliberately damaged the wiring of the speaker system.”

Turgeon is being held on a $ 500,000 bond, authorities said.
