The best-dressed stars at the Grammy Awards in 2021

Awards shows mean fashion and a lot, but the Grammys are something special. No event matches his mix of outré style and striking outfits. One of the few occasions when a little black dress or a simple tux just won’t fit, the red carpet requires bold expressions of personality. The designer pieces chosen by the artists in attendance often do more than look good – they claim exactly who they are and what their musical message is. At the 2021 ceremony, the atmosphere was irreverent and daring. The tone was set by Harry Styles, who started the ceremony with a new rendition of his hit song ‘Watermelon Sugar’ and a reinterpretation of his signature look. Wearing a Gucci black head-to-toe leather suit and a mint feather boa, Styles went glam rock as he showed a fresh side to his sound and onstage persona.

As a Donatella-approved Versace girl, Dua Lipa is used to wearing the tight-fitting dresses of the Italian brand, but in a barely available see-through pink dress adorned with crystals, she was the otherworldly dream girl of the evening. For sultry glamor, Chloe and Halle’s dual take on gold-plated Louis Vuitton customized for every Bailey sister’s personality.

There was, of course, more than one way to get attention. Wearing a Gucci hat and matching mask, Billie Ellish provided cool e-girl, while country pioneer Mickey Gunton was ethereal in Valentino’s butterfly-covered transparent cape. A regal presence on every red carpet, Cynthia Erivo demonstrated why she is one of the most stylish women in Hollywood by bringing the drama in a silver column dress designed by Nicolas Ghesquière that is one of the best looks of all award season.
