The Australian Pokémon Go player is the first worldwide to reach level 50

It’s been almost two months Pokémon Go increased his level cap within the Go Beyond update. When moving from Level 40 to 50, players have since had a heavy burden reaching this rank, one that has some entanglements with British authorities. Yesterday it finally happened as not one but two players have finally achieved this goal.

It was first achieved by FleeceKing, an Australian player who captured the moment via Twitch, but it was a close fight. Fellow Australian Lauren Bertoni also reached level 50 just 16 minutes later, which made for a heated game.

It came when several Go players reached level 48 but waited for a timed requirement to proceed. Unfortunately, they all found that their challenges had been reset upon reaching that level. It led to Niantic researching and once done, Lauren’s level 49 requirements were completed. FleeceKing seems to have benefited in a similar way, giving them a boost in the competition.

They still had to meet all level 50 requirements, which is quite a challenge. This included earning an additional 30 million XP, achieving 999 excellent throws, reaching rank 10 in Go Battle League, 5 Legendary Catches of Legendary Encounters in a row, and 3 Team Go Rocket Leader wins with Pokémon under 2500 CP. A big question, but eventually they got there.
