The Alaska government, Mike Dunleavy, is offering visitors a free COVID vaccine

Alaska will give tourism a chance.

The state will make free COVID vaccines available to visitors arriving at major airports starting June 1, Governor Mike Dunleavy announced Friday, as part of the Republican’s bid to boost the state’s beleaguered tourism industry.

“What we say to our tourists is that if you come to Alaska … you get a free vaccination if you want it,” Dunleavy said. ‘When you come in you want a chance, when you visit Alaska you get a chance. You don’t have to pay for it. We’ll arrange things at the airport and help you. “

The vaccinations will be available at both Anchorage and Fairbanks international airports and “we are in talks with a few other airports,” said the governor.

Alaska reportedly has a surplus of vaccines and made them available to all residents more than a month ago. The state is reporting a total of just 329 COVID deaths since the outbreak began more than a year ago.
