The Government of Honduras yesterday reviewed the details of the contract sent by the Russian Federation that will be used to acquire 4.2 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine to immunize more than 2.1 million Hondurans against the COVID-19.

The Sanitary Regulatory Office (Arsa) has validated the Russian vaccine and has the support of the Extensive immunization program (PAI) and the National Immunization Advisory Council.

Carlos Madero, the government’s general coordinator, reported that by the end of this month it is likely that there will be a combination of deliveries, 48,000 vaccines from the Covax mechanism on the one hand, and the first batch of Sputnik V vaccines on the other.

The coordinator of government thanked the management of Marco Tulio Medina, Franciso Herrera and the government of Nicaragua so that the country would have access to the vaccine. “It’s essential for Hondurans, it means we can return to the normalcy that was before,” he added.
