Texts from Hunter Biden shoot Secret Service denial over a weapons incident

Hunter Biden sent a text saying the Secret Service responded after his gun went missing in 2018 – contradicting the agency’s claim that it was not involved, The Post has learned.

In a lengthy message sent the following year, President Biden’s son described the situation in detail, saying that his former sister-in-law-turned-lover, Hallie Biden, threw the firearm in a garbage can outside Janssen’s Market, a gourmet grocery store. Wilmington, Del.

“She stole the gun from my trunk lock and threw it in a garbage can full upstairs at Jansens [sic]Then he told me it was my problem to deal with, ”Hunter wrote.

“When the police, the FBI, the Secret Service came on the scene, she said she took it from me because she was afraid I would hurt myself because of my drug and alcohol problem and our volatile relationship, and that she was afraid for the children.”

The January 29, 2019 post added, “Really no joke with the agent kept me convinced that Hallie was suggesting she was afraid of me.”

In another message, sent closer to the incident, Hunter described the gun as “my 38.”

“Taken out of the lock box of the truck and put in the paper bag and thrown in the trash at the local grocery store. For no reason, ‘he wrote on December 6, 2018.
“And I was shocked to see it disappeared 10 minutes after she took it and when she went back to get it after I scared her, it was gone, which led to a state police investigation of me. True story.”

Both messages are on a hard drive obtained by The Post that contains the contents of a damaged laptop that was left by Hunter in the Wilmington repair shop in April 2019 and never picked up.

The Macbook Pro laptop was later seized by the FBI, apparently as part of what Hunter said last year is an investigation into his “tax cases” by the Delaware US Attorney’s Office.

On Thursday, Politico reported that the incident involving Hunter’s .38-caliber revolver took place on October 23, 2018, and that the firearm was fished from the trash and handed in a few days later by an elderly man who found it while searching for recyclable items. items.

During an investigation into the disappearance, Secret Service agents approached the owner of the gun store where Hunter had bought it 11 days earlier and asked for paperwork related to the purchase, Politico said, citing two sources familiar with the case.

The shop owner declined the request, suspecting that the Secret Service wanted to hide Hunter’s property if the gun was later used in a crime, Politico said.

The owner later gave the documents to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which regulates gun sales, Politico said.

Law enforcement officials told Politico that any Secret Service involvement – whether on behalf of the Biden family or on their own initiative – would be inappropriate as the incident was being investigated by the Delaware State Police and the FBI.

In a statement on Thursday, the Secret Service denied any role in investigating the missing weapon.

“Data from the US Secret Service confirms that the agency did not protect any member of the Biden family in 2018 and that the Secret Service was not involved in this alleged incident,” the agency said.

The Secret Service doubled down on that statement Friday, saying, The service claims the Secret Service was not involved in the case described.

The White House said on Friday it stood by a statement on Thursday that said, “ President Biden had no knowledge of or involvement in the Secret Service’s alleged role in this incident, and neither he nor any family member was protected by that incident. time.

The White House also said Thursday, “President Biden had no knowledge of or involvement in the Secret Service’s alleged role in this incident, and neither he nor any family member was a protected person at the time.”

Hunter sent the text messages to former celebrity psychiatrist Keith Ablow, a one-time Fox News employee whose Massachusetts medical license was suspended in 2019 and later expired.

The Massachusetts Board of Medicine labeled him “ an immediate and serious threat to public health, safety, and well-being ” on allegations that he was “ involved in sexual activity and borderline violations with multiple patients, diverted controlled substances from patients, engaged in disruptive behavior multiple display and aim a firearm in a way that frightens an employee, and fraudulently renew his license. “

Hunter also sent the 2019 message to Hallie, who he has admitted to having had an intimate relationship with after the death of her husband, his older brother Beau Biden, and while estranged from his now ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle.

According to a July 2019 profile in the New Yorker, Hunter and Hallie broke up in August 2017 just months after moving in together, after which he moved to Los Angeles in early 2018.

Hallie did not immediately return messages left on two phone numbers in her name, nor did Hunter’s attorney immediately respond to an email asking for comment.

Ablow declined to comment.
