A Texas man is facing federal charges for his suspected involvement in the violent pro-Trump riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6, as well as online death threats allegedly directed against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-CortezAlexandria Ocasio-Cortez Ocasio-Cortez says lawmakers are worried colleagues will sneak firearms onto the floor of the house. (DN.Y.) and a Capitol Police officer.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the US District Court for the District of Columbia, Garret Miller posted a video of the Capitol on his Twitter page with the caption “Inside Congress.” He also reportedly posted several other messages on social media indicating that he was involved in the lead up to and after the riot.
“I’m about to drive across the country for this asset,” Miller wrote in a Jan. 2 post, according to the complaint. “There are some crazy things going to happen this week. Dollar could collapse … civil war could start … not sure what to do in DC. ‘
In the hours following the riot, Miller reportedly responded to a tweet from Ocasio-Cortez that read “ Impeach, ” indicating that the congressman President TrumpDonald Trump McCarthy says he has rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has said he disagreed with her impeachment articles against Biden Biden, Trudeau agreed to meet next month Trump planned to impeach acting AG to reverse Georgia’s election results for his involvement in provoking the riot.
The criminal complaint noted that Miller wrote in response: “We acted with honor and we were true [sic] not armed, ” and then, in a complementary response, added: ‘Kill AOC. ‘
Miller also expressed anger on social media with the fatal shooting of one of the rioters, Ashli Babbitt. According to the indictment, Miller threatened to find the Capitol police officer who shot Babbitt and “hugged his neck with a nice rope.”
Days later, Miller reportedly wrote in a Facebook post that the officer was’ not going to survive ‘and that he’ deserves it[s] to die, “adding that it was” hunting season. ”
Miller was arrested on Wednesday in the Northern District of Texas and first appeared in court on Friday Records of the Department of Justice.
The Texas man is facing a total of five charges: unlawful entry, violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, obstruction of official suit, and civil disorder and threats online, according to the court’s indictment.
Ocasio-Cortez responded to the allegations on Twitter Friday, referring specifically to a tweet in which Miller wrote: “I just wanted to blame myself,” after posting a selfie in the Capitol.
“Well you did!” the congressman replied.
She added in a follow-up tweet, “On the one hand, you have to laugh, and on the other, you know the reason they were so cheeky is because they thought they would succeed.”

As of Saturday, the Justice Department has already charged more than 135 people with committing crimes on or around the Capitol grounds, with more charges expected in the coming weeks and months.
Ocasio-Cortez, who has called on Trump and his supporters to be held accountable in connection with the riot, revealed in an Instagram video last week that she had a “close encounter” during the riot in which she feared for her life.
Ocasio-Cortez said she was unable to reveal details of the meeting “due to security concerns,” but underlined that “I thought I was going to die.”
