Texas baby shot by 3-year-old brother

HOUSTON Police believe a baby was fatally shot by his 3-year-old brother on Friday after the older boy got hold of a gun in a Houston apartment.

The baby was shot in the stomach Friday morning, said Wendy Baimbridge, assistant chief of the Houston police.

Several adults who were in the apartment took the 8-month-old boy to a hospital, where he died.

“I just want to take advantage of this moment and beg parents and caregivers everywhere to not allow your firearms to be accessible to anyone in the house. Lock them up. There are things you can do to make that weapon safe. Please pray for this family. This is just a tragic event, ”said Baimbridge.

Investigators were initially unable to locate the gun used in the shooting, but later found it in the vehicle that family members had used to take the child to the hospital.

Investigators and prosecutors are still determining whether charges will be brought in the case, Baimbridge said.
