Texas: An immigrant dies who was transported in the back of a truck

Miami, United States.

One man died in the custody of agents of the Border Patrol who stopped a van allegedly transporting undocumented immigrants in its box near Hebbronville, in Texasthe Customs and Border Protection Bureau (CBP) reported on Saturday.

The death occurred on the 15th, when Border Patrol security cameras captured a Toyota Tacoma truck transporting several people who were in the vehicle’s box.

Border agents they went to the place and told the car to stop and in doing so all the occupants escaped except one, who had medical problems.

The man was cared for by a Border Patrol Emergency Medical Technician and was later transferred to Christ Spohn Hospital in the town of Alice in Texas, where he was pronounced dead.

Identity and Nationality

CBP stated in a statement that it has not yet happened the identity and nationality of the deceased man has been established and that this incident is being reviewed by the Nueces County Medical Examiner and the CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility.

In recent months there has been a remarkable increase in the number of illegal crossings of undocumented immigrants and last March they were more than 172,000, the highest monthly level in 20 years, at 71% compared to February and 5 times more than in the same month from 2020.

Immigration authorities are detecting a greater number of vehicles transporting undocumented migrants attempting to enter the United States for human trafficking operations that are sometimes fatal.

The worst of these cases was recorded in early March when a pickup truck with 25 people crashed into a truck in California, in an accident that killed 13 illegal immigrants, including 10 Mexicans.
