Tessica Brown, the Louisiana woman whose use of Gorilla Glue made her national headlines, reportedly underwent surgery in Beverly Hills to remove the offending gunk.
“The operation went well,” said Dr. Michael Obeng, Director of MiKO Plastic Surgery, at CBS Los Angeles. “Tessica is doing well. She’s awake. The hair crew does her hair. “
After the four-hour procedure, in which Brown was under mild anesthesia, she became suffocated when she realized that she could run her fingers through her hair again, according to TMZ.
In the TMZ video of the procedure, Obeng explained that he combined medical-grade glue remover, aloe vera, olive oil and acetone to break down the polyurethane, the main ingredient in Super Glue.
Brown is later seen staring into a mirror looking at her newly released hair.
The surgeon had contacted the desperate mother of five, who called for help in a TikTok video that went viral, offering to give the chemical treatment for free. It normally costs more than $ 12,000.
“When I found out that this was a reality, you can only feel compassion and sympathy for Tessica,” Obeng told CBS LA on Tuesday. “The procedure will be to dissolve the polyurethane that Gorilla Glue is made of.”
Before Wednesday’s procedure, Brown and her sister used the Goof Off product to soften the glue enough to remove her ponytail, TMZ said.
She told the outlet that she was preparing to wear wigs for the rest of her life, but is relieved that she won’t need them long after Obeng’s job.
Brown said in an earlier interview that she never intended her ordeal to receive so much attention.
“I never intended to bring this to social media. The reason I brought this to social media was because I didn’t know what else to do, ”she told ET.
‘And I know someone out there could have told me something. I didn’t think for a second when I got up the next morning that it would be everywhere, ”she added.
