Tesla has updated the interior design of the Model Y electric SUV, starting with the new one being produced in China, to reflect the changes introduced in the 2021 Model 3.
With the new 2021 version of Model 3, Tesla has made several new design changes, especially in the interior design of the vehicle.
Model 3 and Model Y share a very similar interior design, but the 2021 model year changes allowed for some differentiations.
The most important is the introduction of a new center console with an integrated wireless phone charger and an updated design.
New Tesla Model Y design
Now with the launch of Model Y made at Gigafactory Shanghai in China, Tesla has updated the electric SUV’s interior design to match the changes introduced in 2021 Model 3, such as the new inner console:

Interestingly, Tesla also appears to have made some changes to the Model Y interior that aren’t from the 2021 Model 3 refresh.
One change is visible from the new image in the online configurator; a new wooden panel in the door:

While these changes can currently only be seen in the Chinese Model Y configurator, they are expected to make it to the US-produced Model Y, as was the case with changes first introduced in Model 3 vehicles made in China are built.
Tesla Model Y in China
As we previously reported, Tesla is about to ship Model Y in China after several production units have been spotted in Gigafactory Shanghai.
Today, Tesla China confirmed the start of Model Y production in China, with customer deliveries starting this month.
The automaker confirmed that the Model Y will start at 339,900 yuan ($ 52,000) for the Long Range Dual Motor version and the Model Y Performance version will start at 369,900 yuan ($ 56,600).
Pricing is competitive with small electric SUVs from competitors in China such as Nio and Xpeng.
