Tesla Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) – Elon Musk Says, ‘I Am A Supporter Of Bitcoin’

Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) CEO Elon Musk said in a conversation on Clubhouse early Monday that he is a “supporter of Bitcoin.”

The billionaire entrepreneur said that over the years, many of his friends have tried to convince him to get involved with Bitcoin.

What happened: Musk said he got a “slice of Bitcoin cake” in 2013. Tesla’s CEO said he should have bought Bitcoin at least eight years ago and admitted he was late for the party.

“Bitcoin is a good thing,” said Musk. “So I am a supporter of Bitcoin.”

“Bitcoin is really on the cusp of widespread adoption” in the world of conventional finance, Musk said.

The richest person in the world said that he often jokes about “Dogecoin”, but that it is really just a joke. Musk pointed out that Dogecoin was made as a joke and the “most ironic outcome would be that Dogecoin will become the currency of the Earth in the future.”

Why it matters: Musk updated his Twitter bio Friday to read “#Bitcoin” and the cryptocurrency immediately soared above the USD 38,000 level.

Bitcoin has since retreated, trading at $ 33,502.45 at the time of going to press.

The Tesla CEO also has a long history of tweeting about Dogecoin, often driving the cryptocurrency soaring.
