The Honduran boxer Teofimo Lopez, who became the absolute lightweight champion in 2020, spoke about the possible rematch against Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko and explained why such a fight would not take place.
López made history at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in October last year after beating Lomachenko in a match in which he joined the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Organization and the World Boxing Council Franchise Championship.

After 12 rounds, Lopez won the fight by unanimous decision against Lomachenko. The scores matched the catracho by cards of 116-112, 119-109 and 117-111. Teofimo improved to 16-0 with 12 knockouts, while Vasiliy was left with 14-2 and 10 knockouts.
“Lomachenko is a great fighter,” said Teofimo. But he doesn’t act like a real champ who does all those things and says all that. Let it go, that’s what I can say. Sometimes I am very hard on these guys, but I have to be realistic ”.
Teofimo insisted that there will be no revenge and even advised Lomachenko. “I want the best for everyone. For the same reason, I tell Lomachenko to drop to 130lbs, I told him I would bring him down to 130lbs, and I think this is the best for him. I just wish him a great career, he still has time to do something. I could be angry with him, but I was angry enough to have beaten him, ”he said.
