Tennessee reports 14,395 new cases, 12 deaths in 48 hours

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) – The Tennessee Department of Health reported 14,395 new COVID-19 cases and 12 additional deaths in the past 48 hours. Due to the Christmas holidays, the state released data for the past two days on Saturday.

The December 25 update showed an additional 9,230 cases and 5 deaths.

The December 26 update showed 5,165 additional cases and 7 deaths.

The ministry shared that the limited number of reported deaths is due to the holiday.

This brings the state’s total number of cases to 560,892. So far 6,443 Tennesseans have lost their lives to the virus.

The state also reported 14,006 recoveries in the past 48 hours.

There are currently 2,819 patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Earlier today, the Metro Public Health Department reported 793 cases of COVID-19 in Nashville in the past 24 hours.

Today’s COVID-19 update has been abbreviated and only displays the number of new cases and new deaths. Metro will release a similar condensed update tomorrow, before returning to full reports on Monday.

No new deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.
