A plethora of high-profile departures from Polish developer Techland has raised real concerns about the status of Dying Light 2. Recently, Paweł Selinger, a 22-year veteran on the team, decided to leave his role as Narrative Designer. In a statement, the studio wished the veteran well, but stressed “he left a great deal of himself with Dying Light 2 as he worked on the project from the very beginning.”
The company, in a somewhat unprecedented move, also commented on rumors about the Art Director position and confirmed there were no changes to this role. “The position of Art Director is not under threat and has been held by Eric Cochonneau since November 2019,” said a spokesman. “Eric has taken care of every aspect of the upcoming production ever since and the team under his leadership is committed to providing players with the best possible game.”
So what about that game? It was originally slated for the PlayStation 4 in Spring 2020, but no release date is currently included. Well, Techland promises it will “share exciting news” about the project in the near future. With fingers crossed, we’re getting a meaningful update on the game in the coming months.
