After what seems like years of teasers, espionage recordings and rumors, Porsche is finally ready to unveil the latest generation of the 911 GT3 on Tuesday, February 16. On Thursday, the company released a teaser video with hints of the car’s final design, as well as its exhaust note.
The 14 second clip isn’t exactly long, but it’s more than enough to get us excited. The new GT3, based on the 992-generation Porsche 911, will feature a version of the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six from the latest 911 Speedster. That means things like individual throttle bodies and a 9000rpm redline. It’s expected to deliver over 500 horsepower, and sounds absolutely fantastic in the video above.
While the car in the teaser features Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission, an old-fashioned six-speed manual transmission will still be available for purists who want to row themselves. Car and driver, during its December ride with a prototype, confirmed that the hood and hood will be made of carbon fiber. And that the multilink front suspension will be derived from the RSR race car.
Externally, we expect the car to look largely like photos of the prototype released at the end of last year. That means a 992 with a revised front end, a large rear wing, an exhaust center exit and a diffuser. We don’t have to wait long to see the production-ready model.
