The Tampico team was crowned champions in the first final of the MX Expansion League against Atlante, beating them with a scoreboard on the field of the Estadio Azul, a location where a club won the title for the first time.
Both teams reached this meeting with a score of 1-1. For the first 45 minutes, the game stalled in midfield, with very few scoring opportunities for both, leading to half-time reaching 0-0.

For the second half, the Atlantic stallions ran forward and added more danger to the rival goal. Their reward came at minute 68, with a great header from Jonathan Sánchez to open and overtake his team; in less than ten minutes, however, Jesús Fabián came alongside.
After the 2-2 draw on the total scoreboard, the game was extended to extra time. With a last fifteen minutes of screaming, the ‘Jaiba Brava’ team recovered from Jonathan Vega’s goal, so Jesús Fabián scored the tying run and in 11th Diego De Buen pulled out 11 steps to take the title.
