Tampa Bay Buccaneers chases Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, 31-9

The Tampa Bay defense held down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs all night, and the Buccaneers took a decisive 9/31 victory in Super Bowl LV. Tom Brady, who already held the record for the most Super Bowl wins of any player, has now won his seventh championship.

The Chiefs failed to score a touchdown, as Mahomes had to rummage around in the backfield over and over again. Mahomes finished the game with 2 interceptions and went 26/49 for 270 yards. Brady, who broke his own record as the oldest quarterback to win a Super Bowl, threw for 3 touchdowns and went for 201 passing yards, which equates to 21/29. Brady was also named Super Bowl MVP.

Tampa Bay are the first team to ever play in their home stadium and win the Super Bowl.

The Weeknd was the only artist in the halftime show this year. Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan sang the national anthem before kickoff and HER played “America the Beautiful”. Amanda Gorman, who rose to fame after reading an original poem at the inauguration, became the first poet ever to read a poem at a Super Bowl.
