Talladega Nights actor Houston Tumlin dead by suicide at age 28: child star who played Will Ferrell’s son ‘found at home after self-inflicted gunshot wound’

  • Tumlin died Tuesday night at his home in Pelham, Alabama
  • His girlfriend was reportedly in the house at the time, TMZ said
  • He played Ferrell’s nasty son in Talladega Nights: The Legend Of Ricky Bobby from 2006
  • The comedy was his only major movie credit
  • Since then, he has reportedly served in the military and worked on repairing telephone lines

Talladega Nights actor Houston Tumlin has passed away at the age of 28.

Tumlin, who was a child when he appeared in the 2006 Will Ferrell film, died of suicide, according to Shelby County coroner Lina Evans, who spoke to TMZ.

Evans said Tumlin was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot to the head at around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at his home in Pelham, Alabama.

Sources said TMZ Tumlin’s girlfriend was in the house at the time. No note was found.

Houston was a standout in Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby as the rude-mouthed 10-year-old Walker Bobby, the son of Will Ferrell’s character.

The movie is his only professional movie credit.

Tumlin reportedly served in the Army’s 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell in 2015 and was engaged in other work, such as repairing telephone lines, according to TMZ.

Tumlin’s Instagram showed happy moments such as adorable pictures of his dogs, work photos, and stylish outfit photos.

Houston’s sister Hayden was in shock when she paid tribute to her brother on Instagram.

Under a photo where the siblings were crazy, she wrote: “I lost my brother yesterday. This doesn’t feel real or right to be without him. He was so special to us. I will love you forever, bubba. ‘
