Jins today launched a new line of Pokémon-themed glasses with blue light blockers. Released in partnership with the Pokémon Company, the collection will feature frames for both kids and adults in a variety of designs and colors specific to fans’ favorite Pokémon.
Starting this week, consumers can choose from three “model” sets – the Flagship Model, Johto Region Model, and Kids Model – each with their own different styles. In early 2021, Jins will also introduce the Kanto region model, as well as more design options for the Johto region model.
Each pair of frames has a subtle nod to a handful of beloved Pokémon. Frames in the Flagship collection, for example, have a theme Pikachu, Eevee, Snorlax and Mew. The Pikachu frames in this collection always have tiny notches at the temple and tips shaped like Pikachu’s tail. Another pair has small Snorlax-shaped feet on the ends. Each frame design is available in a variety of colors, with 16 possible choices within each adult collection and four total options for children.
The Pokémon details aren’t completely clear when the glasses are on your face, something I appreciated after spending a few weeks with two designs from the Flagship set. (Yes, you can absolutely wear these to work without giving yourself away as a hardcore Pokémon stand.) I also appreciated that even a Mew-themed wireframe pair seemed pretty durable – roughly on par with my normal wireframe pair from Warby Parker.

The Pokémon kinks are also present in other detailing in the included sleeves and cleaning cloth. For example, the Flagship line comes in a light brown faux leather sleeve with a Poké Ball engraved into the click and a collection-specific green interior. The included cloth is meanwhile printed on one side with a pixelated Poké Ball.
Flagship frames will retail for $ 140, while Kanto Region and Johto Region glasses will retail for $ 120. Children’s frames cost $ 100. The eyewear collection is available from today through the Jins online store.
