Suspect in custody after triple fatal shooting in Kenosha

According to police and news reports, the Wisconsin Police Department took a suspect into custody in a Kenosha bar early in the morning, killing three.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday night it had “a person of interest” in the fatal shooting at the Somers House Tavern at around 1am.

Police have not identified the suspect, but the arrest follows an hours-long manhunt for the shooter.

The unnamed suspect is being held on a charge of first-degree intentional manslaughter, and additional charges are expected to follow, according to the Kenosha News.

Authorities initially said two other victims were injured in the incident, but Sheriff’s Sgt. David Wright told the outlet that three injured people had been identified and hospitalized – and said there may be a fourth.

The three people shot have not been identified.

Wright said police have conducted “numerous interviews” with bargoers and watched surveillance footage of the scene following the incident.

Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said on Sunday there was a scuffle in the bar and the shooter was thrown out – only to return minutes later with a gun.

“I think there was some sort of confrontation inside,” said the sheriff. “The management asked that person to leave and then shortly afterwards that person came back and shot people.”

“We think our suspect knew who he was aiming for,” Beth said.

A witness told Kenosha News that gunfire was taking place.

The deadly incident comes after an outbreak of mass shootings in the US, including the deaths of eight people in a FedEx warehouse in Indianapolis Thursday.
