Superman 2 actor dies

Actor Marcus D’Amico, remembered by fans for playing the boy in Superman 2 who asks General Zod to forgive his father, has died at the age of 55 at his home in England, Europa Press reported.

D’Amico, who also starred on the cult series San Francisco Stories, died of pneumonia on December 16, Variety reports. His acting credits also include small roles in Stanley Kubrick’s Metal Jacket, and The Alienist, a TNT series.

“Not only have I lost my beautiful brother, but the world has also lost an incredibly talented actor and director. Words cannot express how much I miss him,” the interpreter’s sister, Melisa D’Amico, wrote on social media.

D’Amico was born on December 4, 1965 in Frankfurt, Germany, but soon moved to the United Kingdom. During his long career, starting as a child in Superman 2, he earned a Best Actor nomination at the Oliver Awards for his performance in the play Angels in America. He also won a Theater World Award in 1995 for his performance of An Inspector Calls.
