Super Mario 3D World Stops FIFA Revival | UK Boxed Charts

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is No. 1 for the second consecutive week.

The exclusive Nintendo Switch was down 61% in sales from the week before, which is a solid result for a game hitting the charts in its second week. The Wii U remaster is without a doubt the best-selling new game of the year (so far).

It holds back the stiff competition from FIFA 21, which got another boost in sales thanks to the recent price cut. Boxed sales of the game are up 140% last week, and it’s up another 59% this week.

There is also Mario Kart 8: Deluxe. There has been a lack of normal Switch stock in the market for the past week, with only bundle options available, of which Mario Kart has featured prominently. The game increased 19% in sales and moves from number 5 to number 3.

This means Animal Crossing: New Horizons will drop to No. 4, its lowest position so far this year, with sales down 4% from week to week.

Rounding out the top five is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which even climbed one place despite sales declining 9% week-over-week.

There’s a real lack of games in the coming months, with a handful of Switch releases and not much else. Bravely Default 2 on Switch is due out next week, while Monster Hunter: Rise arrives in late March. The first really big PS5 and Xbox Series games of the year won’t be out until May, with Returnal, Resident Evil: Village and Deathloop the first standout games.

As a result, we can expect this physical store chart to be heavily impacted by price discounts and the arrival of new console inventories for all three major platforms.

Here’s the GfK Top Ten for the week ending February 20:
