Survivor star Sunday Burquest has passed away after her last battle with cancer. She was 50.
The former participant had previously been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. Although she became cancer-free after several surgeries and treatments, she received a second cancer diagnosis about a year ago. Doctors revealed she still had months to live after discovering Burquest had esophageal and ovarian cancer.
Her daughter, Kennedy Burquest, confirmed she passed through Instagram today, posting a moving tribute to her late mother.
Thank you to my incredibly beautiful mom. Thanks for fighting for as long as you did. Thank you for being a best friend, a role model, a sister and my mom all in one. Thank you for raising me to love Jesus and show that love to others. That’s something you did so well. It breaks my heart to know that you will never see me on my wedding day, or be there when I have my first child. But I know you watch over me. Although it hurts me so much to see you go, I am so glad you are happy again. I am glad you can be with Jesus and see your father. I’m glad you have no more pain. I am happy to have been with you for the past few months. I loved taking care of you. You will always be my favorite patient. I love you a million times in heaven and back. I know we will meet again someday. Until then I will miss you every minute and try to make you proud. Calm down Mom, I’ll see you soon, ”Kennedy wrote.
Burquest made a name for himself on the 33rd season of CBS’s SurvivorThe season was nicknamed “Millennials vs. Gen X”, with 10 contestants born before 1982 and 10 born after 1984.
