Steve Martin revealed on Twitter on Sunday that he had received the COVID-19 vaccine, calling the overall process “silky smooth.”
“Good news / bad news. Good news: I just got vaccinated! Bad news: I get it because I’m 75. Ha! Martin told his 8.7 million followers.
“The NYC operation went smoothly (sorry for the cliché @BCDreyer!) And handled down to the last detail by the US Army and National Guard. Thank you all, and thank you science, ”the actor continued.
At the urging of a fan about how he got the vaccine, as they were struggling to get one for an elderly relative, Martin said he signed up online and waited in line too.
“I signed up ON-line through a NYC dot gov website (sorry I don’t have the exact site), and waited IN-line at the Javits Center,” explained Martin.
He later wrote, “At the moment I have no fixed resects.”
Some side effects have been associated with COVID-19 vaccines, according to the CDC, including pain and swelling in the arm where a patient received an injection.
Martin isn’t the only star recently vaccinated in New York. Last week, Martha Stewart confirmed she had received the COVID-19 vaccine, documenting the moment on social media.
“I was vaccinated today in a designated vaccine capsule near the Martha Stewart Center for Living in Mount Sinai Downtown,” the 79-year-old posted on Instagram at the time.
Like Martin, Stewart waited in line.
“To allay your concerns that I crossed the line, know that I am in the approved age group for this batch of vaccines and I was waiting in line with others,” said Stewart.
