Steve Martin announces on Twitter that he has been vaccinated for COVID-19: ‘thank you science’
Steve Martin has been given the coronavirus vaccine.
The Father of the Bride star has revealed that he received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Sunday in New York City and praised the “ smooth ” functioning of the service.
On Twitter he wrote: ‘Good news / bad news. Good news: I just got vaccinated! Bad news: I get it because I’m 75. Ha! The NYC operation went smoothly (sorry for the cliché @BCDreyer!) And was handled down to the last detail by the US Army and National Guard. Thank you all, and thank you science. ‘

When a follower asked him how to get the vaccine, the 75-year-old actor wrote down the exact process he used to get an appointment.
“I signed up ON-line through a NYC dot gov website (sorry, I don’t have the exact site) and waited IN-line at the Javits Center,” Martin wrote.
Other Hollywood stars have also received their vaccine.
Dame Judi Dench was thrilled to get her COVID vaccine as it was nice to see people in the next village, even when they were a ‘great, great distance’ from her.

The 86-year-old actress informed everyone last week that she had been vaccinated while sitting down for an interview with BBC News.
She said, ‘I had one last Thursday. Well what was nice was that it was in the next village, and you know even though they were a huge distance and I can’t see very well, I waved to a lot of people I thought I knew, which I’m sure I did, who were at a great, great distance. It was terribly well organized. ‘
And singer Tony Bennett has also had his COVID-19 vaccine.
The 94-year-old singer took to Twitter this week to reveal that he had received the first dose of his coronavirus vaccination, while encouraging others to include it as well.

Martha Stewart has also gotten her first dose and shared a short video on her Instagram account to let her fans know that she was doing well.
The 79-year-old also penned a lengthy note in the caption letting her 3.5 million followers know that she was grateful for the vital workers who worked tirelessly to end the global pandemic.
‘I am so proud of and grateful to the doctors, nurses and medical staff who wade through the red tape and confusion surrounding the distribution of these very important vaccines … Here is the advancement of science and a heartfelt thanks to those who to the vaccines, ”she wrote.
