Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry has joined the Hall of Fame Reggie Miller for the second-most three-pointers in NBA history after scoring his 2,561 triple career at the start of the second half of Saturday’s game against the Utah Jazz.
Curry is now 412 3-pointers behind Hall of Famer Ray Allen, the most in NBA history.
The record for triples came. Curry came onto the court early in the second half, sent the ball to Draymond Green on the wing, then moved to the corner and hit the shot with a quick pass from Green.

“What defines Steph is his ability to hit threes on or off the dribble,” said the Warriors coach. Steve Kerr, before Saturday’s game during a video conference with reporters. “Whether it’s dribbling with all his moves or playing with the ball, it’s probably where he and Ray Allen are most alike. Reggie was much more of a ballless, catchy three-point man.
Curry caught up with Miller in record time. It took Miller 1,388 games in his career to hit 2,560 3-pointers, while Allen took 1,074 games to reach 2,561. Curry passed that mark in just 715 games.
“But Steph and Ray are the best two in my mind in terms of the diversity of their three-pointers, so they will be at the top of that list,” said Kerr. “The ability to shoot him in so many different ways is just an incredible threat that defenders face.
“So I was lucky enough to coach Steph and see him play all these years and enjoy the show like everyone else. And I know him so well and experience what it’s like to lead a team with Steph. is an incredible luxury to have a leader like him. ”.
32-year-old Curry has changed the modern game in how much he has increased the reach for himself and the younger shooters who have been chasing him. He is proud of the time he put into his own game to become arguably the greatest shooter in basketball history. Curry’s intricate pregame routine has become a sight in its own right over the years, but it’s his practice-range shooting regime that has marveled Warriors officials over time.
Curry’s coach inside Davidson College, Bob McKillop, explained how he feels Curry has changed the game the most over time.
“Well, the first change is that it brings great joy,” Mckillop told ESPN in 2019. “And I think that resonates with the Warriors. They play with joy. Steve Kerr trains for joy. That starts with Stephen. So that one. it is number one.
“We’re talking about the three of them and they’re great, but let’s talk about the number of trays, let’s talk about his shooting rate for trays. Let’s talk about the passes. Let’s talk about the screens, let’s talk about the trays. Cuts. He does it … all those selfless things he sometimes doesn’t do They appear on the stat sheet … Again, I don’t know how many superstars can influence the team by doing little things like Stephen Curry affects the team. “
