State publishes preliminary timeline for COVID-19 vaccinations

(WXYZ) – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has released a tentative timeline for COVID-19 vaccinations in the state.

They began vaccinating critical health workers in December 2020 and then moved on to long-term caregivers and staff.

On Monday, the state then transitioned to Phase 1B vaccinations, which includes front-line workers, first responders, teachers, and people 65 and older.

According to the timeline, other essential frontline workers and people aged 16-64, Stage 1C, could take place in May, until late summer and early fall.

After that, the state said all remaining essential workers will be vaccinated, which could begin in July through the end of the year, and finally, Phase 2 is anyone 16 or older, which could begin in August.
