A trio of state mega-sites for COVID-19 vaccines will be closed Sunday as New Jersey braces for its second snowstorm this week.
Gov. Phil Murphy announced on social media Saturday night that vaccine mega sites in Burlington, Middlesex and Morris counties will be closed on Sunday.
Much of New Jersey is under a winter storm warning from the National Weather Service as a storm is expected to bring up to 20 inches of snow to the I-95 corridor on Sunday, and lower but still significant snow totals to other parts of the state . .
The appointments of the Middlesex County site, which is located at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison, will be moved to Saturday, Feb. 13.
In Morris County, appointments for the mega site on Rockaway Townsquare will be moved to Wednesday, February 10.
And in Burlington County, appointments for the mega site at Moorestown Mall will be moved to Monday, Feb. 8; Tuesday February 9; and February 10.
The state’s other three vaccine megasites, in Atlantic County, Bergen County and Gloucester County, remain open despite the storm.
According to the director, people who have to reschedule their appointments are contacted by individual care providers. Anyone with questions about the megasites and vaccinations in general is encouraged to call the state’s vaccination call center, 855-568-0545.
This isn’t the first time that snow has forced the state to shut down vaccine megasites. All six sites were forcibly closed on Monday by the nor’easter who left over 12 inches of snow on the ground in parts of New Jersey.
