The big moment has finally arrived for console players of the hit game Stardew ValleyThe creator, ConcernedApe, has finally rolled out the highly anticipated version 1.5 update.
“The Stardew Valley 1.5 Update for Switch, Xbox and PlayStation is Out”
If you haven’t kept up with our Stardew Valley coverage, version 1.5 includes a new beach farm, advanced game options and more. You can see the full changelog in our previous post, but be warned, it may contain spoilers.
We also have a spoiler-free overview of what to expect (comments based on the PC patchConcernedApe previously said version 1.5 was “by far the biggest solid chunk of new content added to the game since launch.”
New game options
If you are considering starting a new save file for this update, there are a few new character creation options:
- There is a new farm called “Beach FarmIt’s big, with good fishing and foraging opportunities, and the chances of rare stock crates washing up on land. But there is a catch … most of the farm is covered in sandy soil so you can’t use sprinklers (they get clogged with the sand). If this is your first time playing Stardew Valley I recommend trying one of the other farms for a more classic experience, but if you come back for a new playthrough Beach Farm can make your experience a bit fresher (it has also a unique look).
- There is a new “Advanced game optionsButton at the bottom left of the character creation menu. From here you can select a variety of options to customize your playthrough. For returning players, I recommend trying out the “remixed” Community Center bundles, which randomize the bundles you get, adding brand new ones as well as variations on the originals. Remixing the mining rewards can also shake things up … this adds some random variation to what you can get out of the mining chests.
- Make sure to check it out new hairstyles at the end of the hair list.
Split screen (local) co-op
To play split screen, build a cabin (from Robin’s) for up to 3 other players to join (if you start a new game, you can also choose to place huts from the start from the advanced game options menu). Once the huts are there, open your game menu, scroll down to multiplayer and select “Start local co-op”. The other players can now join by pressing start on a controller connected to the PC. Refer to the Options tab in the game menu to adjust the zoom level and the user interface zoom level to a setting that works well for you. Otherwise, split screen works exactly the same as online multiplayer.
