Stardew Valley is now five years old, the maker thanks fans for keeping it up

And I’ve been playing it for so long

Stardew Valley is a timeless game. It’s something I’ll be playing for decades to come, so I’m happy to have it on as many platforms as possible: much easier to keep!

Pictured above is one of my first farms, which I started years ago and which I still return to from time to time. Last week Stardew celebrated its fifth birthday. That’s … forever ago in the collective consciousness of gaming!

While so many projects are now forgotten a week after release, Stardew has endured. In part, just think of the tireless efforts of its creator, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone. They have been instrumental in the game’s success, not only making free updates to keep the game interesting, but also interacting with fans, giving everything an endearing allure. At this point, the reach of the PC original has gone way beyond, with tons of fan mods, merchandise, and most recently a board game. The gaming atmosphere is better Stardew Valley, and Barone in it.
