Starbucks suspends happy hour over coronavirus concerns, hoping to limit retail crowds

There’s nothing nice about canceled happy hour, but it all makes sense for safety.

Starbucks has suspended two upcoming Happy Hour promotions in its US stores, hoping to limit crowds in its cafes as coronavirus cases increase across the country.

A Starbucks spokesperson told FOX Business on Wednesday that the coffee chain will no longer run two-for-one deal days during certain hours on December 17 and January 7, 2021, as previously scheduled.

“Given the increase in the number of cases and current guidelines from the scientific community against meeting in large groups for extended periods of time, we have decided to pause Happy Hours,” said the spokesman. “We are temporarily moving to other promotions such as Double Star Days and will reassess future plans as we continue to monitor the situation.”

The representative emphasized that the health and safety of Starbucks staff, customers and communities remains of the utmost importance during this time.
