FIFA 21, Judgment, and a range of adorable platformers on the way
Google assures owners that despite its somewhat rocky start, Stadia still has full support from the company, with “more than 100 games” currently scheduled to hit the cloud gaming service in the course of 2021.
“We are thrilled to continue offering great games from some of the best developers to our players in the Stadia store,” said an official Stadia forum post. “Over the coming weeks and months, players can expect everything from action-packed RPGs to competitive co-op titles and nimble platformers. […] These games are just a sampling of more than 100 games that will be added to the Stadia Store in 2021 for our players to share, experience and play with friends. “
Among the titles on the agenda for Stadia’s near future are Electronic Arts’ FIFA 21 (March 17), Team Yakuza homicide detective Judgment (April 23) and sci-fi RPG from Cradle Games HellpointAlso featured are a slew of adorable, cartoonish platform titles, including WayForward’s Shantae releases Half-genius hero and Risky’s Revenge, PixelHive looks nice Kaze and the Wild Masks, and LiquidBit’s competitive multiplayer title Killer Queen Black
The message follows Stadia’s recent announcement that it was already closing its in-house game development studios just over a year after the service’s launch. In the future, Stadia wants to focus on delivering new and old third-party software to its user community, and publish more games every month.
I think there is still life in the old … er … new dog.
