Springfield Walmart location offers COVID-19 vaccinations by appointment Thursday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Walmart will host a drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination clinic at a Springfield location Thursday. But it is by appointment only.

Walmart will begin administering Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines in Springfield with a drive-thru clinic at Walmart Supercenter, 3315 S. Campbell Ave., starting February 25 through the US Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Eligible patients can book a vaccine appointment through the Walmart website so they can easily get vaccinated while supplies of the vaccine last. Vaccines will be available to those who meet the current Missouri vaccine eligibility stage, which can be found on the Missouri Department of Health website. Insurance is not required, there is no charge for receiving the vaccine and appointments for the second vaccination are made at the time of appointment. Appointments are available from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and the company expects these events to take place in the coming weeks, as allocation permits.

Walmart selected the vaccine clinics in locations that prioritize access for those deemed most vulnerable. The team took into account demographic information, local health needs, and underserved medical data to identify locations where the company could have the greatest impact in increasing access to vaccines.

“We have two goals when administering vaccines: first, to get as many injections as possible into eligible weapons so that we can continue the process of reopening our country, and second, to ensure fair access to vaccines in the communities. that we serve. Most of our new vaccination clinics are located in medically disadvantaged neighborhoods, and we are proud to play a role in improving access to care in these communities, ”said Dr. Cheryl Pegus, Executive Vice President, Walmart Health & Wellness. “We will continue to find new ways to increase access to vaccination for our customers as we work towards the eventual end of the pandemic.”

Walmart is working with the CDC and states to help administer vaccines to eligible populations in participating states as soon as possible. The range and suitability of the vaccine will vary based on national and local guidelines. In addition to appointments, the planner provides a digital reminder when it is time to come back for the second vaccine, therefore customers are asked to create a profile to ensure customers receive the second dose of the vaccine within the required timeframe .

Walmart pharmacies will continue to support states and the federal government to increase the accessibility and availability of COVID-19 vaccines. To stay up to date with how Walmart and Sam’s Club are supporting vaccine rollout, visit https://corporate.walmart.com/covid-vaccine.
