A wild video captured three passengers attacking two Spirit Airlines employees who asked them to make sure their carry-on luggage was the correct size before boarding their flight from Detroit to Atlanta.
Both aviation officers were injured and one was taken to hospital after being attacked by passengers in the Detroit Metro Airport terminal on Sunday, Spirit spokesman Field Sutton told The Post in an email.
“The agents asked the group to check that their carry-on baggage was the correct size for the plane before boarding, at which point the passengers became belligerent,” he said.
“The agents tried to calmly defuse the situation, but were physically assaulted by these passengers when they closed a door to prevent them from boarding the plane,” Sutton added.
Two of the passengers were arrested and the third was quoted and released, the company said.
“We at Spirit all wish the agents a speedy recovery and thank them for their courage and professionalism. We also thank law enforcement officials for their prompt response and arresting those involved in the attack, ”Spirit said in a statement.
“This violent behavior is completely unacceptable and has absolutely no place in airports or any other place. We do not tolerate any offensive behavior and these passengers will be banned from future travel with Spirit. “
