South Florida doctor who died after vaccine died of natural causes

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A Miami Beach doctor who died about two weeks after receiving Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine died in a manner labeled natural.

An official in the medical examiner’s office said that Dr. Gregory Michael has died of a condition that can cause internal bleeding and there is no medical certainty that the shot caused the condition.

Michael’s death in January was investigated by the Florida Department of Health and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Autopsy samples were sent to the CDC.

The research team concluded that the 56-year-old died of complications from immune thrombocytopenia, also known as ITP.

A Facebook post from Michael’s wife shortly after he died described him as “very healthy.”

His website states that he had a private practice in obstetrics and gynecology at Mount Sinai Medical Center and received the vaccine at the hospital he was attached to on December 18.

According to his website, he was an avid tournament angler and big game fisherman as well as a certified rescue diver.

His wife said that three days after he received the injection, Michael noticed serious broken blood vessels on his feet and hands, forcing him to go to the emergency room.

There he was diagnosed immune thrombocytopenia, which prevents blood clotting.

According to his wife’s Facebook post, after two weeks of treatment, Michael suffered a hemorrhagic stroke caused by the lack of platelets, which took his life within minutes.

She said her husband was in favor of the vaccine.

A spokesman for Mount Sinai, citing patient privacy restrictions, said in a statement at the time:

“To the extent that we are aware of an incident involving a patient, the appropriate authorities are immediately contacted and we have our full cooperation.”
