The Oakland Athletics will take over shortstop Elvis Andrus and another Texas Rangers player for designated hitter Khris Davis and a pair of prospects, sources have confirmed to ESPN.
The A’s also receive $ 13.5 million and Aramis Garcia, catcher in the minor league, while catcher Jonah Heim and righthanded Dane Acker join the Rangers.
Andrus, 32, was the longest-serving Ranger after 12 seasons and the only player left from their back-to-back World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011.
Andrus played only 29 games last season due to trailing back problems, hitting only .194 with three homers and seven RBI’s. He is owed $ 28.5 million for the next two seasons.
For his career, Andrus has hit .274 with 76 homers, 636 RBI’s and 305 steals.
Andrus comes forward to replace Marcus Semien at shortstop who signed a free-agent deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Davis, 33, has 218 career homers in eight seasons with the Brewers and A’s. In 2018, he led MLB with 48 homers, but hit just two in 30 games last season.
For four seasons in a row, Davis hit exactly .247 before dropping to .220 in 2019.
The trade was first reported by The Athletic.
