Sources – Philadelphia Eagles to interview Los Angeles Rams DC Brandon Staley for a job as a head coach

Los Angeles Ram’s defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, who has the Green Bay Packers waiting for him in Saturday’s Divisional Playoff, also has the Philadelphia Eagles waiting for him when this season ends, according to the league’s sources.

The Eagles have already received permission to interview Staley at the right time, which sources say could be as early as Sunday if the Rams don’t get any further. Staley will be joining the list of head coach candidates the Eagles are already considering as they’ve been conducting interviews for a week.

The Eagles are attracted to Staley and the reputation he built during his year as Sean McVay’s defensive coordinator in Los Angeles, as well as the skills he demonstrated in Denver under the direction of Broncos head coach Vic Fangio.

The Eagles aren’t the only team interested in Staley. The Houston Texans have also been given permission to interview Staley, and there is a connection.

Staley coached at John Carroll University, where new Texan general manager Nick Caserio was also present. The two have a strong relationship, and perhaps Caserio’s presence could lure Staley to Houston.

But the Eagles want to talk to Staley; they have announced that. He’s one of their top contenders and, depending on what happens on Saturday, he could have the chance to soon meet the NFC East team who are looking for the head coaching job opening it created last week when it fired Doug Pederson.
