Sources – Oklahoma City Thunder trades Hamidou Diallo to Detroit Pistons for Svi Mykhailiuk, second round pick

The Oklahoma City Thunder has agreed to trade guard Hamidou Diallo with the Detroit Pistons for guard Svi Mykhailiuk and a second round in 2027, sources told ESPN on Friday.

The emergence of sophomore security guard Lu Dort had made Diallo expendable, especially considering he will be a limited free agent this summer. The Pistons consider Diallo a major future player and plan to work on a new deal off-season, sources said.

Pistons general manager Troy Weaver was an executive with the Thunder when Diallo was drafted 45th overall in the 2018 NBA draft.

Diallo, 22, has averaged career highs this season in scoring (11.9), rebounding (5.2), assists (4.2) and minutes (23.8) for the Thunder.

The second round of 2027 going to Oklahoma City will be through the Houston Rockets, sources said.

Mykhailiuk, 23, is considered a better positional fit along the Thunder’s perimeter, and he will have the chance to impress at Oklahoma City before becoming a limited free agent this summer.

He was the 47th overall pick for the Lakers in the 2018 draft, arriving in Detroit in a trade midway through his rookie season. He has averaged 6.9 points per game this season – and 6.6 for his career.
