Sources – Buffalo Bills OC Brian Daboll Emerges as a Favorite to Get Los Angeles Chargers Head Coach Job

Buffalo Bill’s offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has emerged as a favorite to land the Los Angeles Chargers head coach job, according to league sources.

Daboll is one of nine candidates interviewed for the job and the Chargers are planning the next steps in their process which will be affected by the outcome of Saturday night’s Divisional Playoff game between the Ravens and Bills.

If the bills are lost, Daboll can meet the Chargers whenever he wants and accept their head coach job if offered. If the bills win, the chargers have to wait for Daboll to finish the postseason before negotiating.

Daboll would fit many of the traits the Chargers are looking for in their next head coach. An offensive-minded coach, he teaches among the greatest coaches of all time, and helped improve the play and production of Bill’s quarterback Josh Allen. Daboll is expected to do the same as Los Angeles strategist Justin Herbert.

Moreover, there is a great reputation. Daboll attended St. Francis High School in Buffalo with the Chargers general manager Tom Telesco. The two played on the same high school football team, with Daboll two degrees behind Telesco. Daboll was a rock hard safety and Telesco was a wide receiver and a cornerback.

From their time together in Buffalo, both men followed different paths. Daboll continued to learn his trade at the feet of Bill Belichick in New England and Nick Saban in Alabama before returning to Buffalo, where he helped make the Bills offense one of the best in the league.

Telesco left St. Francis to teach under former Colts general manager, Bill Polian, before taking the position of general manager of the Chargers.

Now Daboll and Telesco could be teammates again on the other coast, in Los Angeles, still trying to win together.
