Sony releases a more powerful portable AC

Sony has announced a follow-up product to the Reon Pocket, the app-driven “portable air conditioner” released last year after crowdfunding on the company’s own platform. The Reon Pocket 2 looks more or less the same as the original model, but the newly designed internal parts can achieve up to twice the heat absorption, according to Sony, resulting in more powerful cooling performance. Sony also says it has improved sweat resistance in the Reon Pocket 2, making it more suitable for light training situations.

The previous model was usually marketed as something to wear with a special undershirt to make the summer commute more bearable, but this time Sony is focusing on more versatile uses – golf in particular. The company has partnered with sportswear brands such as Le Coq Sportif, Munsingwear and Descente to produce a range of golf apparel with pockets for the device to slide into.

Sony has also designed a neckband accessory so that the Reon Pocket can be used with regular clothing. You used to have to buy a lot of undershirts with pockets from Sony.

The Reon Pocket 2 is available in Japan today for 14,850 yen (about $ 138). Not a word about a release elsewhere.
