Sony is now planning PS in India as a PS5 software battle

Ratchet & Clank PS5 PlayStation 5 1

Sony seemingly has plans to bring it down PlayStation now soon to more countries – including India. The service is currently only available in a handful of areas, but IGN India reports that the coronavirus stalled its plans to expand the subscription to more countries last year. As the pandemic begins to gradually recede, the organization wants to rethink the idea.

Stock, as is the case globally, is in fact non-existent in India – but a report mentioning unnamed retailers suggests that PlayStation’s bigger problem in the country may be pricing. Upcoming releases such as Returnal and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart are said to have pre-order numbers in the “double digits” as Sony is pushing for prices of 5,000 rupees compared to PS4’s 4,000 rupees.

In response, the Japanese giant wants initiatives such as the PS Plus collection and Play at home, but it becomes fascinating to see how things turn out here. Virtually everyone is dissatisfied with PS5’s software pricing, but will that have a meaningful impact on bottom line – especially at a time when there is a strong push for low-cost plans?
